Let’s talk about hygiene during treatment with braces. This problem is definitely painful because braces really interfere with normal routine hygiene.

🔹The brush does not reach the interdental contacts due to the bracket and the food stays there for a long time.

🔹It is difficult to clean the area around the braces, which can lead to yellowing.

🔹 Rubbed the brush too hard — the bracket came off.

🔹Floss problems.

In short, it’s not very pleasant.

How to take care of your teeth while wearing braces

Here are some tips to help you simplify dental care while wearing braces.

🔹 Braces brush. Purchase a special braces brush immediately after braces. It has elongated bristles at the end and a square notch in the middle (the bristles are shorter). In fact, there is a bracket during cleaning, and long bristles come into direct contact with the surface of the teeth!

🔹 Interdental brushes. They come in different diameters and stiffnesses, for every taste and need. Accordingly, you should choose the option convenient for you with your doctor and clean the interdental spaces under the arch (as shown in the picture) with this brush. It is also convenient for them to read the area directly attached to the bracket, which often turns yellow (often the rest of the material on which the bracket is fixed turns yellow).

🔹 Floss. If you have braces, it does not mean that you do not need to floss your teeth — on the contrary, the need for this increases sharply, as they interfere with normal physiological hygiene. If it is difficult to use ordinary thread, try a floss with a plastic handle (last picture), as it is easier to hold and it will be more convenient for patients with braces. You can also use a floss to clean the area where the braces are attached from sticky food (cookies, candies, etc.).
